The weather has been warming up lately in Melbourne, and I've been eating copious amounts of gelato in a bid to stay cool while shopping around the city. Spring St Grocer serves up the best gelato I've had in Melbourne so far, and it's safe to say that I am flippin' addicted. I would even go as far as to call them my Gelato dealer - I'm here eating out of the cone so often that the counter girls probably recognize me now. (But no shame for the gelato faithful, eh?)
The flavours change every day, depending on what's in season. So far, I've tried the young coconut, honeydew and mint, peach and basil, macademia, watermelon and mint and the pistachio flavour. Every single one of them were stellar.
I've also brought my friends Dom and Cherie here, and Dom gave it his stamp of approval as well -
this is seriously good gelato, you guys.
Here, I'm having three flavours in a cone that's shaped like a cup: the Nutella crunch (which was the best nutella gelato I've had in my life), fingerlime and mint and the Bellini, which is peach and champagne flavoured.
In terms of its interesting flavour combinations, Spring St Grocer triumphs other gelato heavyweights like Casa Del Gelato and Il Dolce Freddo hands down. It is admittedly a tad more expensive than the two joints in Carlton, but the quality of the gelato is worth what you pay for.

I've yet to try the much hyped-about Gelato Messina in Fitzroy, which may take top spot for me; so I'll reserve judgement on where's my favourite for now. Until then, Spring St Grocer definitely owns my heart :-)
