Got together for dinner with the Aritonangs at Guhng, an upscale Korean barbeque restaurant in the CBD. Our party of nine included Patrick's sisters (and their dates), as well as my friends Evelyn, Jan and Yan. Guhng is supposedly one of better Korean restaurants in town, and positions itself as a middle ground between a fine dining establishment and a Korean BBQ restaurant. The interiors of the dimly-lit restaurant are pure class, blending the traditional with the contemporary to form a palatial three-storeyed dining house.
We had quite the spread, from the Premium Beef Rib Fillets to the Kimchi hotpot, which Yan ordered. It must be said that the portion sizes do run small; because it is, perhaps, a fine dining restaurant. The service staff were helpful in cooking and cutting the meat for us, such that the meat was presented on a plate when it was ready. This is unlike some Korean BBQ restaurants that leave the cooking to its patrons.
These are the pork and vegetable Steamed dumplings (AUD$12) - if I'm completely honest, I found this dish disappointing. The tiny, bite sized dumplings lacked any real flavour... I would not recommend ordering this.
I hear the pan-fried version is better!

Pat and I shared the Stone-grilled beef bibimbap (AUD$18) (above) and it was marvelous. Fresh and tasty, this was the perfect accompaniment to the Premium beef rib fillets we ordered. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Seafood hotpot (AUD$39), which came in a steamboat-sized pot, and was overflowing with abalone, mussels, tofu, prawns, cabbage, fish and Enoki mushrooms. The soup was deliciously sweet and flavourful.
The actual amount that we ordered must have been at least three times more than what is pictured, but we didn't manage to get pictures of everything because it would've been rude to snap too many pictures over dinner with Pat's family.
On the whole, I would recommend visiting Guhng if you're in the mood to splurge a little - note that the portion sizes are quite small, so you'll have to order more to feel satisfied!
