Is there anything more satisfying than a midnight feast at The Pancake Parlour? I think not! A couple of us trundled in over the weekend, hoping to appease our growling stomachs. We slid into one of these booths at the spacious branch in Melbourne Central, and dug into stacks of fluffy pancakes.
The Pancake Parlour offers a great Student meal at the price of AUD$15, which includes a selection of pancake stacks that you can choose from and a hot beverage. Our drink of choice was their hot chocolate, topped with extra marshmellows.
Evelyn and I ordered the Alice in Wonderland pancake stack (below), which has a scoop of TPP's signature vanilla ice cream, drizzled with thick, gooey chocolate sauce, and a generous sprinkling of hundred and thousands. This is my
all-time favourite item on the menu, and trust me when I say that it is the stuff your dreams are made of and more.

Yan picked the Salted Caramel pancakes, which were seriously indulgent. The almonds were a nice addition that lent a bit of crunch to the fluffy pancakes, and is definitely a must-try for fans of caramel.
I usually only enjoy caramel in small portions as I find it can be cloyingly sweet, but even I couldn't resist forkfuls of this!

Jan went with the Lemon Berry pancakes (AUD$16.90), which were really good as well. It had a tart flavour and the berries complemented the lemon sauce nicely. This was the least sweet option that was ordered, because Jan doesn't have that much of a sweet tooth as the rest of us! If I'm not wrong, this was a special item on the menu, so it might not be available when you visit.
What's great about The Pancake Parlour is that it stays open till 3AM on weekends, which is perfect for pancake hooligans like us (lol). It's incredibly rare for a restaurant that isn't a bar to stay open that late, especially in Melbourne, where shops close at 5PM sharp. On the whole, TPP is a wonderfully reliable place for pancakes, and well located with numerous branches in the city. Honestly, I found that the quality of their pancakes were better than the famous IHOP pancakes that I had whilst I was in New York, and I can't get enough of them!
