There's nothing I love more than a bright pop of colour in the summer, and these are my top picks for looking polished this season. By swapping out the chained tote bag with a fold-over clutch, this outfit can easily take you from day to night; and is the kind of thing I'd wear to a casual lunch date. Dust on some blusher for a rosy glow and you're good to go!

Now that summer is well and truly here, it's time to break out the beach towels and jump in the car - here are a few of my fave songs for a bit of grooving on the Monash Highway: It's the most carefree season yet :-) Follow me on Instagram: @paintingrachelred for more updates.
For an out-of-town brunch experience, Las Chicas is the place to visit - with its cute hanging lights and brick walls, the medium-sized joint is a perennial brunch favourite of locals in Balaclava. I hopped onto a train down with my amigo Prasanna, and we had a hilarious time catching up and creating a bit of a ruckus in the café. They serve up a decent cup of coffee, and have a laidback and homely atmosphere. Better yet, brunch is served all day long; which is great for those roll-out-of-bed-at-12PM days. Consider me sold! :-) I had the really dense banana and strawberry buttermilk pancakes, with pistachio ricotta atop it (AUD$16), while Pras had a good old Wagyu burger (AUD$20). They have a beautiful little courtyard at the back that's perfect for lounging about on warm summer days - just request a seat at the back and the staff will be happy to accommodate. All in all, it was a comfortable experience with reasonably priced items on the menu. I should also add that their menu is much more extensive than that of most cafés, so yay for more choices! Hi guys, sorry for the absence this week - I'm actually gearing up to move out of my apartment, and have been busy making preparations! Anyhow, I know that we're a week into the new year and I'm kinda late on the bandwagon, but I figured better late than never, hey? :) Here are two things I want from 2014:
1. I pray I never lose that zest for life. Life is truly so beautiful, and I hope I will constantly be fascinated by the big and small things in my day to day life. I pray my eyes will always be filled with amazement and wonder, that my heart never grows cold and indifferent. 2013 has shown me that there is so much to hope for, so much to dream about, and my goal for this year is to continue to dream fiercely and unapologetically. "Look for the good in people, not the evil; strengths and not weaknesses -- most of us find what we search for." "I was within and without - simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life." - F. Scott Fitzgerald 2. Personal growth I have yet to discover so many things about my ever-changing personality. And as I do that, I want to grow to become more comfortable in this body of mine - more accepting of everything that encompasses who I am, from my mind, body and my views. I think part of becoming more confident of your identity also includes knowing that you are entitled to walk away from anything that doesn't serve you, or agree with your beliefs. I want to learn to exercise that right this year. I actually drafted this post a couple of days ago, at the beginning of the new year, and what's terrifying is that I've already begun to see how these wishes are slowly becoming more apparent in my life. I'm both excited and slightly hesitant to embark on the new year, but here goes, and may you all have eyes to see the beauty in the toughest situations. x Follow me on Instagram: @ieatheartsxo for more updates. I'm looking all sorts of hippie in this outfit, which is as playful as it is versatile. This has been my go-to ensemble for quick lunch dates in the city, because it requires minimal thought and makes getting dressed a breeze. Here, I let my printed pants do the talking and picked a top with a simple cut and a solid colour. Easy and fuss free! Check out my new iPhone cover from French Connection :-) These leather sandals were scored during the Boxing Day sales, and I actually visited FOUR Nine West stores in Melbourne before I managed to find them in my size. Hooray for good buys! I'm so pleased with these babies.
