I like chipped nail polish.
There. I said it.
There. I said it.
I think it looks quite nice.
I am aware that this is a big no-no for most women, and that I might have ladies shouting, "Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" from their windows in voices that come straight out of a 300 movie, but increasingly I find myself enjoying the look.
And while I am also aware that this completely undermines the premise on which most nail care companies are built on, that they deliver some sort of diamond-strength, chip resistant nail varnish (I'm looking at you, Sally Hansen) - I, frankly, do not care.
This is surprising coming from me, because I used to be obsessed with having picture perfect, manicured nails. I would even go as far as to match my freakin' nails to my outfit, and I wouldn't allow myself to leave the house if my nails and clothes did not match. (I must have had too much time on my hands.)
(Did you catch that?? Harharhar)
Increasingly, I find myself looking forward to the *glorious* moment when I get The First Chip on my freshly painted nails. I still enjoy the look of flawless nails, but for some reason, it just feels too put together in the day.
Chipped nails say, "I'm a cool and busy bitch" while perfect, salon-manicured talons seem to say,
"I spent 3 hours layering top coat over my nails"...... and let's face it -
who wouldn't want to be the effortlessly cool bitch with larger priorities than maintaining her nails?
Unless I'm going for a night out / fancy dinner, in which case chipped nails admittedly will not cut it, I am quite happy walking around with what I think is an artful mess on my fingers.
What about you guys? Do you enjoy chipped nails, or is this just me being a lazy-assed college student?
