The annual Night Noodle Market is a celebration of all things Asian, where people come in herds to enjoy a night of gluttony, feasting on cuisines from all over Asia. Me and my friends trooped over to Alexandra Gardens and soaked in the market's festive ambiance. Here are a few pictures of our night: Follow me on Instagram: @ieatheartsxo for more updates.

Met up with Eve for a final brunch date before she heads back to Indonesia :-) We settled on Mr Tulk, which is conveniently located near the State Library of Victoria. It's a beautiful and cosy space, with lots of natural light streaming in; and I loved that the tables were spaced comfortably, not too close to each other. The food was mostly mediocre, and isn't worth writing home about. We spent the afternoon shopping around the city and buying Christmas gifts for our loved ones. How cute is this sun hat that we found in Sportsgirl?! We took a break afterwards and sat down at Ganache Chocolate for some hot beverages! Eve has been raving about the hot chocolate at Ganache for awhile now, and I needed to see for myself what all the fuss was about. True to her words, the hot chocolate didn't disappoint - it was like molten chocolate! It was so rich and deliciously decadent...I wouldn't even call it a drink, really, because the consistency was so much thicker than any other hot chocolate I've had. Whoa. THIS. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the hot chocolate that will end all other hot chocolates. I had the hazelnut hot chocolate, while Eve had the orange hot chocolate. Both were smooth and rich, and came with macadamia and hazelnut meringue biscuits, which were light and crispy. We caught up with each other and made plans for the summer together, and I'm going to miss this girl so much when she leaves :') I remember the night we first met, and how I knew instantly that we would be good friends. Words cannot express how thankful I am that I've met someone like her in Melbourne. I'm going to end this post with one of my favourite pictures of us, one that I never really got around to uploading. See you in SG, babe! x Follow me on Instagram: @ieatheartsxo for more updates.
Threw on this form-fitting velvet dress and used a printed scarf as a wrap yesterday for some girl time with Evelyn! The dress and scarf are both thrift finds from Camberwell Market, and I'm really pleased about these new additions to my wardrobe. The black velvet dress is a real staple, and I'm so excited to wear it in so many different ways over the summer. Here's a close up of the new bag that I got from Steve Madden! As you'll probably have noticed, I freakin' love crossbody bags. I like the hands-free convenience it offers, and how I never have to worry about my bag slipping off my shoulder (unlike tote bags, pfft). They're perfect for day and night; and if you pick one with details like a chained strap, I find that it can make casual outfits like a standard black jeans and white v-neck combo look more polished. This one has a great snakeskin print, and the burnt orange and turquoise colour palette makes it that much more unique. Also, check out my nails! I've been playing around with textured nail polishes recently, and the one that I have on is the turquoise and yellow "fuzzy effect" nail polish by Sally Hansen. I am in love with these polishes!!! I got it in another baby pink colour, which I intend to wear to death in summer. You can expect a separate post on these polishes soon :-)

Is there anything more satisfying than a midnight feast at The Pancake Parlour? I think not! A couple of us trundled in over the weekend, hoping to appease our growling stomachs. We slid into one of these booths at the spacious branch in Melbourne Central, and dug into stacks of fluffy pancakes. The Pancake Parlour offers a great Student meal at the price of AUD$15, which includes a selection of pancake stacks that you can choose from and a hot beverage. Our drink of choice was their hot chocolate, topped with extra marshmellows. Evelyn and I ordered the Alice in Wonderland pancake stack (below), which has a scoop of TPP's signature vanilla ice cream, drizzled with thick, gooey chocolate sauce, and a generous sprinkling of hundred and thousands. This is my all-time favourite item on the menu, and trust me when I say that it is the stuff your dreams are made of and more. Yan picked the Salted Caramel pancakes, which were seriously indulgent. The almonds were a nice addition that lent a bit of crunch to the fluffy pancakes, and is definitely a must-try for fans of caramel. I usually only enjoy caramel in small portions as I find it can be cloyingly sweet, but even I couldn't resist forkfuls of this! Jan went with the Lemon Berry pancakes (AUD$16.90), which were really good as well. It had a tart flavour and the berries complemented the lemon sauce nicely. This was the least sweet option that was ordered, because Jan doesn't have that much of a sweet tooth as the rest of us! If I'm not wrong, this was a special item on the menu, so it might not be available when you visit. What's great about The Pancake Parlour is that it stays open till 3AM on weekends, which is perfect for pancake hooligans like us (lol). It's incredibly rare for a restaurant that isn't a bar to stay open that late, especially in Melbourne, where shops close at 5PM sharp. On the whole, TPP is a wonderfully reliable place for pancakes, and well located with numerous branches in the city. Honestly, I found that the quality of their pancakes were better than the famous IHOP pancakes that I had whilst I was in New York, and I can't get enough of them! Lately I've been watching episodes of The Carrie Diaries (--I'm kinda late on the bandwagon, I know), which is a prequel to the Sex and the City series that shows how Carrie Bradshaw became Carrie Bradshaw. The plot in itself is a tad cheesy and predictable, but it's filled with plenty of 'awww' moments and is a feel good TV series that makes rough days a little more bearable :) Consider me hooked! I pretty much went through the entire Season One in two days. I never really fancied Anna Sophia-Robb when she first appeared on the circuit, but seeing her on the show may have converted me. I am now a big fan. Here's three of my favourite moments from the book / series: 1. “If a woman could take care of herself, would she still need a man? Would she even want one? And if she didn't want a man, what kind of woman would she be? Would she even be a woman? Because it seemed if you were a woman, the only thing you were really supposed to want was a man.” 2. 3. Also, I'd pick Adam Weaver over Sebastian Kydd any day.

It was a cold and rainy evening, so we sought comfort in some piping hot Spanish paella for dinner. Yum! They had a great reggae band playing as well, which set the mood for a night of discovering independent Aussie designers. The market turned out to be way smaller scale than expected, and frankly we didn't find that much there.
I think Queen Vic's summer night market triumphs the South Melbourne one, hands down! I will admit, the SM market does have a more intimate feel to it, and the upside is that you definitely won't have to battle the same crowds that you find at Queen Vic. Jo and I indulged in some Nutella and banana crepes for dessert and decided to call it a night. I'm beginning to think I should end (or start) every day with a bit of Nutella - I have an industrial-sized tub of Nutella on my kitchen counter and I bloody eat it with EVERYTHING. I'm also guilty of occasionally dipping my finger in when I'm craving a bit of chocolate spread, and I can't help it because it is SO GOOD. Anyone else has an unhealthy obsession with Nutella? :) Follow me on Instagram: @ieatheartsxo for more updates. |
